Backflow repair and replacement involves inspecting, servicing, or replacing backflow prevention devices to ensure that potable water and fire protection systems remain protected from contamination due to reverse water flow. Proper functioning of backflow assemblies is essential for system safety and regulatory compliance.
When performing backflow repair and replacement, S&S Fire Protection will:
- Inspect backflow prevention devices (e.g., double-check valves, reduced-pressure zone assemblies) for leaks, corrosion, or mechanical failure.
- Repair components such as valves, seals, springs, and pressure relief mechanisms to restore proper operation.
- Replace damaged or non-compliant backflow devices with approved assemblies.
- Test repaired or replaced devices to confirm proper function and compliance with local codes and NFPA 25.
- Document all repairs, replacements, and testing for building owners and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Provide recommendations for preventive maintenance to extend device life and reliability.
