When performing underground repairs, S&S Fire Protection will:
- Inspect underground fire mains, hydrants, valves, joints, and vault components for leaks, corrosion, settlement, or mechanical damage.
- Excavate affected areas safely to expose damaged piping, valves, or fittings while protecting nearby utilities and site infrastructure.
- Repair or replace damaged sections of pipe, thrust blocks, restraints, hydrant laterals, valve assemblies, and other buried components.
- Conduct flushing, hydrostatic testing, and flow testing in accordance with NFPA 24 and NFPA 25 to verify proper system performance after repairs.
- Restore site surfaces, backfill, and compaction to ensure long-term piping stability and compliance with local requirements.
- Document all repairs, testing, and site restoration for building owners, water authorities, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Provide recommendations to address corrosion, soil conditions, or system deficiencies that may affect long-term underground piping reliability.
