Fire extinguisher inspections are routine evaluations conducted to ensure that portable fire extinguishers are fully charged, operational, accessible, and compliant with applicable codes and standards. Regular inspections help guarantee that extinguishers will function properly in the event of a fire.
When performing fire extinguisher inspections, S&S Fire Protection will:
- Verify that extinguishers are in their designated locations and accessible.
- Check the pressure gauge, seals, and tamper indicators to ensure the extinguisher is fully charged.
- Inspect the physical condition of the extinguisher, includingthe hose, nozzle, and cylinder.
- Confirm the correct type and size of extinguisher for the associated hazard.
- Document inspection results and note any maintenance, refilling, or replacement needs.
- Provide reports to building owners, managers, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) per NFPA 10 and local regulations.
