5-Year Internal Pipe Inspections are mandated evaluations of a fire sprinkler system’s internal piping, typically conducted every five years, to ensure that the system remains free from corrosion, obstruction, or deterioration that could impair performance. These inspections help maintain system reliability and compliance with NFPA standards.
When performing 5-year internal pipe inspections, S&S Fire Protection will:
- Remove plugs or inspection ports to access the interior of the piping.
- Conduct a visual inspection of the internal pipe surfaces for corrosion, rust, scaling, sediment, or other obstructions.
- Clean or treat piping as necessary to maintain water flow and system integrity.
- Document inspection findings and recommend repairs or replacements if deficiencies are detected.
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA 25 and local code requirements.
- Provide detailed reports for building owners, managers, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
