Exit and emergency lights inspections are periodic evaluations conducted to ensure that exit signs and emergency lighting systems are fully functional, code-compliant, and capable of providing safe egress during a power outage or emergency situation.
When performing exit/emergency lights inspections, S&S Fire Protection will:
- Test all exit signs and emergency lighting units for proper illumination and operation.
- Check battery backup systems to ensure adequate runtime during power failures.
- Verify placement, visibility, and compliance with local building and fire codes.
- Inspect wiring, connections, and fixture condition for damage or wear.
- Document inspection results and note any deficiencies or maintenance needs.
- Provide reports for building owners, managers, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) per NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code) and local requirements.
