20-Year Sprinkler Head Testing

20-year sprinkler head testing is the long-term evaluation of fire sprinkler heads to ensure their continued mechanical integrity, corrosion resistance, and operational reliability after extended service. This testing is performed to verify that sprinkler heads remain compliant with NFPA standards and capable of functioning effectively in the event of a fire.

When performing 20-year sprinkler head testing, S&S Fire Protection will:

  • Remove sprinkler heads as needed for detailed inspection and testing.
  • Conduct mechanical, functional, and corrosion assessments in accordance with manufacturer and NFPA 25/13 requirements.
  • Identify and replace sprinkler heads that fail testing or show signs of degradation.
  • Record the condition, serial numbers, and locations of all tested sprinkler heads.
  • Provide reports to building owners, managers, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) documenting compliance and system readiness.
  • Recommend maintenance or full replacement if the system shows widespread wear or aging.
