Fire pump repair and replacement involves inspecting, servicing, or replacing fire pumps and their associated components to ensure reliable water delivery for fire protection systems. When performing fire pump repair and replacement, S&S Fire Protection will:
- Inspect fire pump assemblies (e.g., electric-motor–driven pumps, diesel-driven pumps, controllers, and relief valves) for wear, leaks, misalignment, abnormal noise, or performance deficiencies.
- Repair components such as seals, bearings, packing, gauges, alignment couplings, and mechanical assemblies to restore proper operation.
- Service or rebuild drivers (electric motors or diesel engines) and controllers to correct faults and ensure reliable startup
and performance. - Replace fire pumps or major components that are damaged, non-functional, or no longer compliant with NFPA 20 performance requirements.
- Conduct flow testing, churn testing, and alarm verification in accordance with NFPA 25 to confirm proper pump operation after repair or installation.
- Document all inspections, repairs, replacements, and test results for building owners and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Provide recommendations for preventive maintenance to improve pump reliability and extend equipment service life.
